As I said in my last post I decided to take this time off to experience new classes and teachers. I feel I can now better empathize with all my first-time students! I really liked a lot of aspects of the class I tried. The teacher really emphasized the inner spiraling of the legs, imagining your calves moving inward and the thighs coming through the middle and out backwards. It really helped me strengthen my poses better.
She also reminded us to not sink down into our joints during poses like Warrior I and II because it causes our muscles to stop stretching and wears out our joints. I had really forgotten that!
I didn't love everything though! It was hard not to do my "favorite" poses and to have a different rhythm to the practice than I was used to. I kept wanting things my way! What a good practice for me in leaving my ego at the door!
This new setting with it's challenges and rewards gave me a chance to grow in my own practice and learn new and different lessons. I encourage all of you, try something new, even if you don't love it, it's good for you!
